Cellular: Unlocked phones

Up until recently, the only way to get a functional cellular device was by purchasing one directly from the cellular network provider. This is because phones are programmed, or "locked," to a certain network. As a result, Cingular customers are limited to the selection of cellular devices that Cingular sells, and Verizon cellular phone service users could buy their phones only from Verizon. Often the selection is very limited; for example, last year Nokia introduced fifty new handset models, but only a few were offered by cellular service providers in the U.S.

Cellular: Extended Service Plans – Are They Worth It?

Fox news featured an item today discussing the extended service plans offered by retail chains such as Office Depot, Computer City and others. The segment brought out the retail chains’ efforts to diminish their liability.

Cellular: Nokia Goes For Pay-By-Phone Tech

Using the cell phone as a wallet is one of Nokia Corporation’s innovations. The Finnish mobile company is one of the first cell phone manufacturers outside Japan to do this. Now, Nokia is bent on promoting the pay-by-phone technology worldwide by partnering with a German firm to form a joint venture called Venyon Oy.
