An early variation of backgammon was first played by the ancient Egyptians, and the Romans adjusted the rules of the game to resemble the modern version even more. Backgammon is a two-player board game, in which pieces are moved according to the roll of dice, and the winner is the player who is first to remove all of his or her pieces from the board. The evolution of the game has led to a large number of playing variations even today.

Gaming: PS3 To Help Cure Cancer

It’s truly amazing how technology can aid in curing serious illness. The latest buzz is that the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3), besides playing games, can now help in curing major diseases like cancer through complex research computations.

Sony Computer Entertainment America disclosed that by the end of March 2007, PS3 users will be able to link their units to the Folding@Home project of Stanford University. This project, now on its 7th year, connects computers worldwide to do complex computations vital in the research of proteins.
