Software: Two Way Connection
Posted by: techrebate on Thursday, July 12, 2007 - 05:56 PM
It is quite amazing to think of what a difference the internet has made in the computing world. After all, if you think about it, every one of us is connected to the entire world through our computer. But there is one thing missing from this connection – it usually only works one way. That is, you can access the rest of the world from your PC, but you can’t access you PC from the rest of the world.

Now, you probably don’t want to allow the entire world access to your computer (and may even have a firewall set up to prevent it) but there are times when it would be nice if you can access your home computer from the road. Well, you actually can. All you need is the remote access solution (available at remotepc.com). The system allows you to connect to your computer and access any of your files from just about anywhere with an internet connection.

Software: Active File Recovery
Posted by: techrebate on Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 06:01 PM
You really can’t call yourself a serious computer user if you haven’t experienced at least one lost data crisis in your life. I really don’t know how computers do it but they seem to be able to conk out exactly at the worst times possible. It may be just as you are supposed to hand in a report which is saved only on your computer hard drive or right after you spent hours working on a project and finally got it the way you want.

While I don’t really think my computer has it “in” for me there are some times where I really can’t blame the computer (or anybody else for that matter). That’s because sometimes I actually accidentally erase an important file myself. Now there is really no replace for maintaining proper backups of your work and you should definitely make this a habit, it is worth knowing that there are solutions available to help restore deleted information and files.

One tool you will definitely want by your side at these times of crisis is the Active file Recovery program. The active file recovery program acts as a more “forgiving” recycle bin than the one provided with windows. This is because you can actually restore files even if you already emptied your regular recycle bin. You can also use the Active File Recovery program to undelete files that you erased using the CTL + Delete function which overrides your windows recycle bin and is considered to be a “permanent” delete function.

One of the great things about the program is that it comes with a bootable CD version which allows you to restore files from your hard drive even if your operating system is corrupt and your system won’t start. Also in cases of restoring critical information it is advisable to use the program in the boot from CD mode since by using your operating system which resides on the same hard drive as your lost data decreases the chance of a possible recovery.

Software: Portable Bookmarks

Rarely do new programs come out where you just say “why didn’t someone think of this sooner?” But with Portable Bookmarks, this is clearly the case. Portable Bookmarks have taken managing and using your internet bookmarks (or favorites if you were born into IE and didn’t have the term stick to you still from the days of Netscape domination) to the next level. In fact they are basically doing what the browsers should have done long ago themselves.

Software: Advanced File Recovery

You aren’t a true computer user if you have not suffered once from a lost data crisis. It seems our computers simply know how to crash at just the most critical moments right before we have that important presentation, just as the deadline for your report is due or on the one time you forgot to make a backup. I remember the time when I accidentally deleted a 200 page document I worked of for weeks with my latest backup days old. I had to go to a special computer lab and wait for 2 days before I got a reconstructed file back. That was the good case, since I’ve heard of people who lost their data forever.

Software: Major Antivirus Solutions Outmaneuvered by Perlova
Posted by: techrebate on Thursday, May 03, 2007 - 06:29 AM
More and more customers are discovering that the best solutions don’t always lie with the traditional market leaders. While online security has been dominated for years by companies like Symantec and Mcafee, experienced customers have come to realize that they don’t always deal with the latest online threats in the best way possible.
